About Joy Kennelly

Joy Kennelly is a results-oriented independent publicist and consultant for the fashion, architecture and entertainment industries with a strong network of professionals she collaborates with. For over ten years, her company has specialized in publicity and event production for companies and individuals in Los Angeles and New York.   A native of California, Joy has lived and traveled throughout 27 countries and most of the United States, which gives her a cosmopolitan marketing sensibility.

Joy began her publicity career at Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI) marketing the visual effects team of THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer. At SPI, she founded, produced and began serving as the Executive Director of the Short Pictures International Film Festival (SPIFF) for four years.

SPIFF began as an internal screening event for SPI employees and quickly grew into an internationally acclaimed film festival. MTV, HBO, and William Morris agents scouted the films she personally helped select and screen. Many films which premiered at SPIFF went on to appear at other prestigious film festivals around the world, including at the Cannes Film Festival.

Brian Herzlinger, director and star of MY DATE WITH DREW, commented, “Joy's talent is one of unrivaled expertise and passion for her field.  She not only coordinates the seemingly impossible, but she does it with a smile on her face.”

Joy was hired by Penton Media to create the first Internet World Media Entertainment Festival (ME Fest) for the Spring Internet World Conference 2001 in Los Angeles. Joy was able to combine her public relations and producing skills with her online marketing expertise. The ME Fest screened online and received over 100,000 unique hits in less than three weeks.

In addition, it was highlighted on EarthLink as a “Site to View.” Joy also successfully produced the first ME Fest Awards Ceremony at Paramount Pictures as part of the Internet World’s annual Community Digital benefit with over 2,500 attendees. In 2001, Joy was included in the International Who’s Who in Technology.

After the event, Courtney C. Muller, former Vice President, Internet World Events, Penton Media, noted, “(Joy) successfully oversaw the media blitz and represented Penton Media at Sundance and NATPE. We were very happy with Joy’s performance. We would recommend her for similar assignments where passion, creativity and professionalism are valued.”
